A guide should tell you what a place is like, how many days it needs and who it suits. Listing the attractions is not the same as helping you decide whether to go.
Lao Travel Guide is written and maintained from Vientiane. We publish destination guides, plain explanations of how travel inside Laos works, and route advice drawn from how trips actually run here. We also sell three services: train tickets, eVisa applications and the digital arrival form. Everything else on the site is free to read, and for each of those three we show you how to do it yourself first.

Travel details in context
Money, mobile data, accommodation and transport are linked from the point in the guide where they start to matter, so you never have to hunt for them in a separate reference section.
A clear choice between DIY and help
Where you can complete an official process directly, we show that route and link to it. Where we charge for help, the total price and its contents appear before payment.

Destination and travel guides
Reading the guides requires no account and no purchase. We do not put the information you need to make a decision behind a booking button.
Hotels, eSIMs and selected tours
Some external booking links pay us a commission when you book, at no extra cost to you. We label them as affiliate links and place them only where they answer the question the page is already asking.
Train tickets and entry paperwork
Train tickets: one USD total per passenger, with our service already included. Digital arrival form: US$8 per traveller. eVisa: one total, calculated live for the country on your passport and shown before payment. eVisa and arrival form taken together cost less than buying the two separately.

How the guides are maintained.
Each guide answers a planning decision a traveller actually has to make. We write pages long enough to settle a question, instead of thin pages built around a search phrase, and we return to the details that move.
